So I ran across this release from Transwitch, that states “fixed wireless reference design that enables wireless providers to deliver broadband voice, video and data services to homes and enterprises.” To me this is an enabler of VoLTE in home/biz, in that this is a building block product that can/will be embedded into other products and devices. Examples I thought of were set top boxes, replacement WAN/LAN/Phone box switch thingy etc… To me, a FiOS, Comcast box or UVerse box is a no brainer.

VoLTE is coming of age…slowly

Marvell is unleashing it’s PXA1801 world (device) MODEM on us. So now we may all rest assured that if we’re traveling and only encounter 3GPP networks, we can LTE or HSPA or EDGE our hearts out. It’s a fabulous technology too that is ready to go with R9 so we can get our beam forming on!

Saw this PR from Ubitus, they are launching a G CLOUD, preloaded on Android tablets with LTE on Xi (DOCOMO’s LTE brand.) It’s an interesting real world roll out of those ‘use cases’ that were pitched in 3GPP meetings for years, low latency bursty but high bandwidth nomadic use. Welcome to the future!
